If Your Heart Is Beating…

Hello friends. Let’s jump right in today. I am writing this week’s Pause from Arizona. I am here saying goodbye to my mom. She has been suffering from Alzheimer’s for the last 3 years and is in the last days or weeks of her life this side of eternity. She just turned 69 last week. She is young, but her earthly life will soon be over.

I share this not to manipulate your emotions but to remind all of us, myself included, that life is a gift. We are not promised tomorrow. All of us take our existence for granted. So, today I invite you to PAUSE and thank God for your life.

Take a few breaths in and out.

Pray: Holy Spirit, quiet my mind, body, and soul to be present to this very moment.

Take a few minutes to thank God for the air in your lungs and the heart that is beating in your chest. Life is a miracle.

Pause.
Breathe.

Life can be hard. The sorrows we experience can often overshadow the miracle that is this life. Take a moment and name those overwhelming things in your life to God.

Pause.
Breathe.

Life is short. Is there someone in your life you need to call right now just to say you love them? Don’t wait. Call them.

Pause.
Breathe.

God gave you this life. God loves you. God is with you. God will continue to be with you. Don’t take any of that for granted. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. (Phil 4:23)
